Names are a powerful tool for teaching letters! Every student loves their name, talking about their name, and doing activities that involve their name. These mini sensory bottles are an easy, center activity for your preschool, pre-k, or kindergarten classroom. Have each student make their own name sensory tube and put it in your back to school lesson plans. Come with me and let me show you how easy they are to make!

How to Make Name Tubes (supplies: colored rice, funnel, mini erasers, letter beads, tubes, letter stickers)
- find letters beads to make your name and pick 6 mini erasers
- alternate placing rice, letter beads, and mini erasers in the tube (that way, all the letters beads aren’t all on at the end)
- twist the top on (add tape to make sure the lids stay on)
- place letter stickers on the tube to create the name
Students can find the letters in their names or their friend’s name using the sticker letters as a guide! It’s like a mini letter hide-and-seek. Place all the name tubes in a basket, and now you have a new literacy tool. It’s a fun activity students can do to learn and identify letters.
