Farm Books for Little Learners
There is so much going on down on the farm. This book gives little learners an inside look at the fields of food that grows, animals, and so much more.
Dora the chicken is very proud of the eggs she has laid. When she tries to share the admiration for her eggs to the other animals on the farm, they all seem so bored… until something starts to happen to the eggs! I love using this book to teach about the feeling proud.
When Molly eats Marvin’s apple he gets so mad that he starts throwing a tantrum. This book is a great way to talk about feeling mad and how to cope with such an overwhelming feeling. Plus… the illustrations are SUPER cute!
Following along as a young boy spends a day on the farm. Some of his activities include picking veggies, mowing, and even fishing!
Farmer Brown Goes Round and Round
A twister is headed towards Farmer Brown’s farm! This rhyming book will have your little learners reading along with you. One of my favorite farm books of all time. ‘
Pete the Cat Old MacDonald Had a Farm
We couldn’t forget about Pete and the classic farm song. This book comes with a poster and stickers. 
Be warned… the tune is catchy and could have you singing all day!
I’m sure you have seen me mention this book before. It is a must-have for your preschool or kindergarten library. Lola grows a garden of flowers with her mom and the help of the local library!
This book gives readers a lesson on teamwork. After the Little Red Hen has worked all day to harvest wheat and bake her chicks bread, the other animals want to enjoy the fruits of her hard labor. Boy, are they in for a surprise…
With all this talk about chickens, we should give eggs the spotlight for a few. The first thing I noticed about this book are the realistic drawings. On top of that, it is full of some fantastic facts about eggs.
Now that we are on the topic of farms, we have to read this fantastic story to our little learners. One of the most popular animals on the farm… pigs! 
Will the three Billy Goats be able to stump the troll at the bridge? Get your little learners in one the fun by having them guess how these clever goats get over the bridge to the yummy grass that awaits them on the meadow.
Farmer Brown goes on a vacation and asks his brother to take care of his animals. Even though the farmer gives him a warning about Duck before leaving, that sneaky quacker still took advantage of the farmer being away. He ate pizza and even got a bath!
Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type
Have you ever seen a cow that types?! Farmer Brown’s cows type all day long! All he hears is click, clack, MOOOO!!!!!
Explore the garden while practicing counting! After the garden is harvested, a salad is made for everyone to eat.
Here is a favorite folktale of mine. It is about a farmer who plants a potato eye that grows into a HUGE potato. It is so big that he has to get the help of his entire family to pull it out of the ground. If you enjoy this book, make sure to pick up a copy of The Enormous Carrot for more veggie fun!
We all know what happens when we start talking about any subject with our little learners… questions! That’s where these next couple of books will come in handy. First, is a book all about lettuce. Since lettuce is relatively easy to grow, it makes for a great seed to plant in your classroom garden.
Watch carrots grow underground in this farm book for little learners. Once my boys found out how carrots grow, they became one of their favorite veggies!
Tomatoes are also interesting plants to grow. You can turn your tomato harvest into many delicious creations such as tomato soup and salsa!
We can’t forget about all those tractors and equipment it takes to run the farm! Your little learners will get a kick out of this book because it is full of real photos.
