I LOVE sensory bottles! They are so relaxing for kids and teachers too. I wanted to make some new color sensory bottles, but I wanted to add literacy. How fun would it be to add the color word IN the bottle? With the words inside, they could be used for so many color word & letter activities. They are super simple to make too! I collected Gatorade bottles. It has a wide mouth and is a heavier plastic. However, any bottle will work. I have listed the step-by-step instructions to make your own!

Step 1: Find objects to add to the color bottles. I had popsicle sticks, pom poms, and beads on hand. Just look through your art or craft supplies and see what colored objects you have on hand.
Step 2: Find different shades of paper for each color. I used scraps I had leftover from other projects. I cut small rectangles and squares. You don’t need many.
Step 3: Find different shades of tissue paper for each color. Again, you don’t need much! I cut out some rectangle strips.
Step 4: Cut out the color word cards. I already made them for you! I made two sets of color words. One set is in all uppercase, and one set is in all lowercase. Color words included: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, brown, and rainbow.

Step 5: Glue your color word cards back-to-back.
Step 6: Put all the items in the bottles. Charlie liked helping me with this step, and it was great fine motor work too!
Step 7: Glue and tape the lids. I used hot glue to seal the lids. This is a VERY important step if you are making them for preschoolers, toddlers, or babies! Then add tape around the lid. This keeps kids from picking off the hot glue. I used matching colored tape!
You are finished!
I hope you enjoy your bottles as much as we do! My 7-month-old and my 2-year-old are loving them. Hopefully, they will let me take them to school! I was so excited when my 2-year-old told me “O” when he was looking at the yellow sensory bottle. My preschoolers are going to LOVE them!
